Ticket #xxxxxx
User – EmployeeA
Issue – Tried making an interoffice call between OfficeZ and OfficeX. Other end can hear me, but I cannot hear them. Tried calling multiple extensions to verify. Even had EmployeeB call from their phone to check to make sure it wasnt a problem with just my phone. They are having the same results.

My Response – EmployeeB has confirmed this to be an issue. So I have done everything I could think to do:
1) I Made a pot of coffee
2) I ate a donut
3) I stared at the phone in the break room really hard with one eyebrow raised.

I think the phones could “Smell what I was cooking” because I was able to call multiple people in OfficeX now and it appears to work now.

It is all in the eyebrow.

Initial response from my boss in another office :

You have donuts in your office?

Sometimes it IS who you work with/for.

Thank you….. No Really….

I am leaving in a couple of days. And I will be out of the office for a week.

I am the one person in this company who builds laptops for every class we give.

We have 15 different classes.

We have 3 different versions of each of those classes. Each version depends on a specific version of the software.

When requesting machines for a class, the person is asked both class and version.

The idiot that waited until the last day to mention that they needed a different version can suffer a facial burn.

No really…. I have a lot of free time. And it only takes an entire day to ghost all the machine you need for the class and then reinstall the software necessary for them. I like doing it 3 or 4 times. Makes me look like I’m earning my money here. Please feel free to change your mind again. I am sure I can postpone my business trip because you are a special little flower.

Normally, I would chalk this up to a mistake, rebuild the machines, then go about my day. But this same guy has done this on the last 5 classes he has scheduled.

Next time I am going to accidentally miss the emails he send saying what version he needs. Just like he accidentally missed the 10 I sent him 2 weeks prior asking.

And people wonder why IT seems rude???

Paraphrased from emails and our support system:

User : I need to find a way to use messenger on my BlackBerry.

Me : Which Messenger? The Blackberry Messenger service? Yahoo? MSN? AIM? GoogleTalk?

U : The messenger service on my blackberry.

M : I will assume the Blackberry Messenger. Since you are using BB Model XYZ, it is already installed with version 4.2 of the BB OS. You should see a blue and white icon labeled "Blackberry Messenger". You can login with your corporate email address.

U : No. That only uses the Blackberry Messenger Service. I need the one we use on our phones.

M : OK... So apparently a different messenger is needed. But which one? As I stated in the first response, there are several to choose from. Yahoo? AIM? MSN? Google? Other?

U : The one we use on our desktops. I see others logging into it from their blackberrys.

M : And again. Which one? The one you see on your desktop, what does it say in the titlebar?

U : Windows Live

M : OK.... Using the Windows Live/MSN Messenger. On your blackberry, Go to http://www.blackberry.com/livemessenger . It will take you to a page where you can download the BB Application to connect.

U : I already have the desktop application. I need MSN Massager on my blackberry.

Other IT Guy to me privately : Please tell her to just put it on vibrate for the "MSN Massager".

M : On Your Blackberry, open the Browser and go to http://www.blackberrry.com/livemessenger it will take you to a page On Your Blackberry that will let you download the app to your blackberry and install it on your blackberry. You dont need to use your computer, you can do this on your blackberry.

U : When I open that link in IE, it tells me that this is the wrong OS.

M : ON YOUR BLACKBERRY!!!!!!!!! open http://www.blackberry.com/livemessenger and download the application. Do not touch your computer. The only reason your computer should be involved to so that you can look at this message to remember the url http://www.blackberry.com/livemessenger that you will need to load ON YOUR BLACKBERRY. So, ON YOUR BLACKBERRY, open the BROWSER application ON YOUR BLACKBERRY and go to the url http://www.blackberry.com/livemessenger ON YOUR BLACKBERRY. It will ask you to accept the terms ON YOUR BLACKBERRY, and to install the application ON YOUR BLACKBERRY. Once it is installed you will reboot YOUR BLACKBERRY and it will allow you to connect to the MSN/Windows Live Messenger Services. Rememeber: ON YOUR BLACKBERRY.

U : I get the same error in FireFox 3.x.

Other IT Privately : Just have her FedEx you the phone. It will be quicker.

Me to Other IT Guy : She is in your office. Go install it for her.

M : Problem Resolved. Ticket Closed. Reason: Waste of 3 days in email and support system.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

Oh yea.... did I mention FUCK! ???

OK.... So after the company I work for was bought, I now report directly to the director of IT. Which means I am pretty much my own boss. If I need hardware or software, I send him an email and he finds a way to get it. Other than that, he leaves me alone and lets me do my job. I run the ATL Office of this company.

So for the first time in my professional career, I finally have a boss that I like. He trusts me enough to let me do my job the way I want it done. As long as things work, he couldn't care less. And I am a big geek. My shit needs to work all the time. :P

Just had a nice Conf Call this morning. Seems my IT Director is leaving the company to go back to school and finish his Mastes.

Selfish Bastard! Leaving to better himself and shit.

NOW who am I going to have to deal with?
